Welcome the Darkness
Welcome the Darkness.
As if you had invited it.
With Daylight Savings time ending, each day will grow darker earlier and earlier until the Winter Solstice turns us towards the light once again. Over the last few days I’ve heard many people complain about this, but what if instead of resisting the natural order of things, we welcomed this darkness with open arms and an open heart?
What if we nestle into this darkness and get to know ourselves differently?
We are taught to fear the darkness, but like the light, darkness is critical to our survival. We need both.
In Tantra it is said that all things that are a paradox are Divine. Holding the tension between to opposing forces is where our holiness resides.
For it is in the darkness that new life is born.
It is in darkness, that seeds begin to burst open, grow roots, and blossom.
Darkness is part of our natural cycle of life. When we sleep in complete darkness, our bodies are better equipped to generate melatonin, a hormone that is responsible for fighting disease, including breast and prostate cancer. Sleeping in complete darkness also helps lower the risk of depression.
Darkness awakens our senses and invites us to draw inward and explore the inner Universe that exists within us all. It offers us time to slow down, rest, and connect to ourselves more deeply.
I invite you to embrace this season of life and settle into the Darkness to see what it illuminates for you. Perhaps if you are not persuaded by my words, the words of Linda May Fox can inspire you.
Abundant Blessings,
Amanda
In darkness you can often see more.
A beautiful picture
Revealing a glimpse of creation
In one illuminating scene,
An enchanting tale from long ago
Glowing to the awaiting time we know.
Ready to form a new story
Shining in all its glory.
Darkness brings light
In its peacefulness and silence
Silence is a sound
In a heart to be found.
In stillness you see
A searching light to be,
The flame of hope
Opening the way as onward we go.
